WORK AI CREW · TAMPA BAY BUSINESS GUIDES

If you are a plumber not showing up on Google, first identify where the problem occurs. Is your business missing from Maps, is a service page absent from website results, or are you visible in Clearwater but difficult to find in St. Petersburg? Each situation needs a different investigation.

01

Start with the service and the search location

Choose a small set of services you actually want to sell. Examples might include drain cleaning in Clearwater, water heater repair in Largo or emergency plumbing in St. Petersburg—only where those services and coverage are accurate. These are example phrases, not verified search-volume claims.

Record the search phrase, search location, date, device and whether you are checking Maps or organic results. “Plumber near me” changes meaning with the searcher’s location. One search from your office does not establish county-wide visibility.

Repeated observations can show a pattern. Report how often you appeared in the top three or top ten, plus the range of positions. Do not describe hundreds of automated ranking checks as hundreds of real customer searches.

02

Check your Google Business Profile

Google explains that local results depend mainly on relevance, distance and prominence. Review your primary category, business details, services, hours and profile verification. Keep them accurate and consistent with what your team actually offers.

For a service-area business, follow Google’s rules for representing your business. Adding a city to your service area does not establish an office there or guarantee a Maps position. Reviews can help prospective customers evaluate you; ask for honest feedback without promising rewards for positive ratings.

03

Check whether the website can appear in search

With the owner’s authorized Search Console access, inspect the important page URLs. Review indexing status, accidental noindex directives, redirects and the selected canonical URL. A page that loads in your browser is not necessarily indexed in Google.

Keep important service pages reachable from normal navigation or relevant internal links. Describe each page clearly with a useful title and heading. Google’s SEO Starter Guide explains discovery, indexing and search-friendly content basics.

04

Give each important service a useful page

A homeowner with a leaking water heater needs to know whether you handle that problem, serve their address and can explain the next step. Provide accurate service details, genuine project examples when available, and a clear phone or estimate option.

Avoid publishing near-identical city pages that only swap Clearwater for Seminole or Largo. Where separate location pages are useful, include real coverage details and locally relevant information. Never invent an office, license, response time or testimonial.

05

Separate visibility from the ability to win the inquiry

If the page gets relevant visits but few inquiries, inspect the customer journey. Check the phone link on a mobile device, make the contact option easy to find and confirm form delivery with an authorized test. Better rankings cannot fix a request that never reaches your office.

Our website conversion guide explains how to measure that next step. For unanswered inquiries, see the lead follow-up workflow.

06

Choose the first fix using evidence

Build a short issue list: the affected page or profile, the evidence, the proposed repair and the measure of success. Start with confirmed problems before adding more content. For example, fixing an accidental indexing restriction is different from trying to outrank an established competitor.
